SOUTH BEND - Walter J. Kaczorowski, 100, passed away at 12:25 pm on Thursday, June 24, 2010 in Sanctuary at St. Paul's. 100 years of memories in 3 final breaths was one description of Walter's lifetime. You may be gone but you will live forever in the hearts of your children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family. Walter was born on June 26, 1909 in South Bend to the late Valentine and Mary (Burzynski) Kaczorowski. On May 23, 1936 Walter married Lucille (Szuba) in St. Casimir Catholic Church. After 69 years of marriage Lucille passed away on October 13, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his three brothers, Ray, Frank, and Ben Kaczorowski; and by two sisters, Sue Perzak and Irene Lorence; and baby grandchild, Drew Kaczorowski. He is survived by his three children, Daniel (Dolores) Kaczorowski of South Bend, Judith Phillips of Granger, Lorie Rauch of Mishawaka; nine grandchildren, Douglas (Tina) Kaczorowski, Jim (Jill) Grochowalski, David (Amy) Kaczorowski, Deborah (Bud) Blower, Eric (Jill) Rauch, Deron (Jodi) Kaczorowski, Amy Rauch, Jennifer (Roland) Jaggers and Don (Alisa) Kaczorowski; 15 great-grandchildren; and by his sister, Hilde Chrzan of St. Louis, MO. Walter held jobs with South Bend Wood Parts, Studebakers and Michiana Machine Shop before retiring after 18 years in maintenance at the Notre Dame Infirmary. He was a lifetime member of St. Casimir's Parish and was the last surviving original founder of the St. Casimir Married Men's Club which was organized in 1938 and still continues to do good work for the Parish. He was an usher at church for 60 years and belonged to the Seniors Group and the Holy Name Society at St. Casimir's. Walter was a respected board member of the St. Joseph Funeral Home and Cemetery Association for 27 years. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, June 27, 2010 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 pm with the Married Men's Club in attendance. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, June 28, 2010 in St. Casimir Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Mausoleum in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Daniel Triezenberg. The family also wishes to thank the administration, nurses, aides and staff members on the 2nd Floor Health Care Department at St. Paul's, along with the many special friends he made during the five years he lived there. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Casimir Catholic Church, 1308 W.
