Daniel T. Poe, 78, passed away peacefully in his home, with family by his side, on December 22, 2022. Born February 20, 1944, Dan was the son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Weller) Poe. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Pam Poe; brother, Harold "Hal" Poe; and sister, Vicky Goff. On December 20, 2001, Dan married Lisa Payne, who lovingly cared for him to the end. Also left to cherish his memory are three children, Andy (and Darla) Poe of Mishawaka, Erin Poe of Phoenix, AZ and Robbie Poe of Osceola; sister, Eileen Louvis of Oakton, VA; along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dan was a loving and devoted husband and father. He founded and operated Gymnastics Michiana and was very proud of its success. He believed in hard work while still valuing family time. He knew a lot about almost everything and could fix just about anything. An educator at heart, he first taught PE and Power Mechanics, then Health, at John Adam's High School. He enjoyed traveling and being outdoors, including hiking, canoeing, and kayaking, and was an avid water skier and jumper in his youth. He loved being a coach - not just with gymnastics, but with all sports. He and his family were active members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and later St. Augustine Catholic Church. Dan was very involved with this community, which he so loved, and he will be greatly missed by many.Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, from 3-7 p.m. at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Rd. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 6, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, South Bend, with Fr. Len Collins officiating.
