Leo J. Stachowiak, 78, of 1509 Liberty Drive, Mishawaka, died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday in his home. He was employed at the former Studebaker Corp. and retired in 1971 as a press operator for Allied Products. Born Feb. 6, 1906, in South Bend, Mr. Stachowiak was a lifetime area resident. On Feb. 15, 1926, he married the former Helen H. Blasczyk, who died March 28, 1975. Mr. Stachowiak is survived by a daughter, Dorothy H. Perri of Mishawaka; a son, Gerald J. of Valencia, Calif.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Jennie Urbanski, Harriet Singleton and Irene Mady, all of South Bend. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Hedwig's Catholic Church and burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may all from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home, where a parish wake service will be held at 7.
