[N19107] Elizabeth (Lizzi) Marie Haas (Bartosik)
Oct. 17, 1983 - Mar. 4, 2018
GRANGER - On March 4, 2018, it was with a profound sense of grief and loss that we said goodbye to a Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Cousin, Niece, and Friend. Lizzi Haas passed away from complications during treatment for cervical cancer at Providence Saint Vincent Hospital in Portland, Oregon. On October 17, 1983, Lizzi was born in South Bend, Indiana to Klem and Carol (Carlson) Bartosik. On May 9, 2013, in Kailua Kona, Hawaii, Lizzi married Geoff Haas, the love of her life, who survives with their three-year-old son Wayne. Also surviving is Lizzi's sister and brother-in-law, Katie and Jeff Mikulak along with their son, Zachary. Larry and Donna Califano, her father and mother-in-law also survive. Many aunts, uncles, and cousins survive to grieve her loss. In 2002, Lizzi graduated from Penn High School. In 2006, she graduated from Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology. She went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Hydrogeology from Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. In 2008, Lizzi moved to Portland, Oregon where she was employed as a Licensed Senior Hydrogeologist, most recently working for EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. Lizzi loved her family and went on many adventures with Geoff and Wayne. Lizzi was a loyal friend and cared without hesitation for all who knew her. She had a contagious smile that would light up a room. Lizzi was incredibly smart, kind, and humble. She lived and loved life. A Celebration of Life, attended by many family and friends, was held in Lizzi's honor on March 11, 2018 in Hillsboro, Oregon. Lizzi and Geoff often took Wayne to the Portland Zoo, where Wayne loved to ride the train and watch the elephants. With that in mind a Memorial Bench is being established in Lizzi's honor at the Portland Zoo. Donations may be made to the Lizzi Haas Memorial Fund through the Oregon Zoo Foundation, 4001 SW Canyon Road, Portland, Oregon 97221. Published in South Bend Tribune from Apr. 29 to Apr. 30, 2018
