THREE OAKS - George Lozmack, 96, of Three Oaks died Friday morning, January 30, 2015 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Michigan. George was born February 22, 1918 to Paul and Paulina (Cizmesija) Lozmack on the family farm in Galien, Michigan. He graduated from Galien High School in 1937 in the top three of his class of 17. He served his country in the US Army 1st Armored Division, and was stationed at Ft. Knox when the announcement came that because of the war with Japan, all leaves were canceled. George's unit boarded the Queen Mary to Scotland and received further training in Ireland. He served in the European Theater and Africa. Upon his return, he took a job as a Milk Tester for south Berrien County. On October 28, 1950 he married Helen Wright at St. Mary of the Assumption in Three Oaks. George was a dairy and grain farmer. He served on the board of the Three Oaks Co-ops, the Producers Creamery, River Valley School Board and the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service. George was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, serving as an usher for many years, helping run BINGO and fund raising. He was also a member of the Randall Couchman American Legion Post # 204. In his free time he enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, bowling and playing Pinochle. Survivors include his wife, Helen; daughters, Teresa (William) Schiller of Sawyer, Cathy (Richard) Brey of Pocatello, Idaho and Diane Lozmack of Three Oaks; grandchildren, James, Jason, John, Paulina and Richard; Great Grandchildren, Voka, James and Reeves and his sister, Evelyn Klann of St. Joseph. He was preceded in death by sisters Mary Bonakosky, Mildred Mangold, Irene Margol and Ella Ludlum, brothers Thomas, Joseph, Robert, Marvin and John as well as 3 infant siblings, Steven, William and Sylvia. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Three Oaks. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery with military honors presented by the Randall Couchman American Legion Post 204 and the U.S. Army Honor Detail. Visitation will be held from 2 4 and 6 8 pm on Monday at Pobocik Funeral Home with a Rosary Recited at 7:40 pm at the funeral home.
