MISHAWAKA - Alice H. Janiszczak, 80, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away at 4:00 a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2015 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Alice was born on March 31, 1935 in South Bend to Louis and Hattie (Szymanowski) Botka. She had been employed as the Head Baker for St. Mary's College for fifteen years and then worked in Advertising Sales with Ave Maria Press for ten years. On October 26, 1957, in South Bend, she married Joseph L. Janiszczak, who preceded her in death on October 19, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her 20-year-old son, Joseph L. Janiszczak, Jr.; one sister, Evelyn Kulwicki and five brothers, Louis, Chester, Eugene "Gene", Richard, and Clem Botka. Alice is survived by her four daughters, Christine (Donald) Howe of Mishawaka, Indiana, Judith (Bruce) Lietzke of Temperance, Michigan, Laurie (Steve) Vargo of South Bend, Indiana, and Theresa (John) Ashcraft of Commerance City, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Christopher Howe, Jammie (Darin) Bongiovanni, Heather Lietzke, Joshua (Audrey) Vargo, Kyle Lietzke, Whitney Ashcraft, and Jeremy Vargo; six great-grandchildren, Timothy Bongiovanni, Joseph Howe, Summer Dombrowski, Cameron Dombrowski, Samuel Vargo, and Gabrielle Vargo; one brother, John (Marilyn) Botka of South Bend, Indiana; and two sisters-in-law, Nancy Botka and Ruth Janiszak both of South Bend, Indiana. A Catholic Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2015 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. A Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 until 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Alice was a graduate of South Bend Catholic High School. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing, and bird watching. Alice loved her children and her family was the most important thing to her.
