OSCEOLA - Rodney A. Sowala, 49, passed away Dec. 4, 2010. Surviving are his wife, Amanda Sowala; his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Sowala; his children, AJ Sowala, Tiffaney Sowala and Drake Sowala; his stepdaughters, Candice Faust and Karissa Carr. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, where a Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friends may also call one hour before the Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka.

OSCEOLA - Rodney A. Sowala, 49, of Osceola, passed away December 4, 2010. Rodney was born September 15, 1961, in South Bend, IN. A graduate of Penn High School, Rodney served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves for several years. After his honorable discharge, Rodney remained faithful and patriotic to the country he loved. He was employed by Fortis Plastics in the South Bend plant for several years. Surviving are his wife, Amanda Sowala of Mishawaka; his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Sowala of Osceola; his children, AJ Sowala, Tiffaney Sowala and Drake Sowala; his step-daughters, Candice Faust and Karissa Carr. Also surviving are his siblings, Timothy Sowala and his wife, Kimberly, Robbie Sowala and his wife, Tammy, Debbie Barbour and her husband, Steve, and Ann-Marie Kankel and her husband, Todd, all of Osceola. Rodney is also survived by his nieces and nephews, J.J., Jason, Jeremy and Justin Stremme, Samantha, Katrina and Kayle Sowala, Ryan Carter, Stephen and Kipp Sowala, Shelby and Cody Kankel. Rodney is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews. Surviving as well are four step-grandchildren, Trenton, Amari, Ka'Mya and Olivia. Rodney was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bert J. and Gladys A. Sowala. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2010, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home Osceola, where a Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friends may also call one hour before the Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010, in Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Rodney enjoyed riding and working on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and was very family-oriented. He loved his children and grandchildren immensely. In his spare time, Rodney enjoyed taking walks, and was fond of trains. He also enjoyed helping on Trivia Nights and other events at Queen of Peace Church.
