William F. Szlanfucht, 86, of the Cardinal Health Care Center, died there at 12:01 a.m. today after an illness of six years. He was a carpenter for many years and retired from Torrington Corp. in 1957. He was born on April 22, 1896, in South Bend and was a lifetime area resident. In 1918 in South Bend, he married the former Mary Szotnski, who died on Jan. 12, 1980. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Marie Crone of South Bend; a son, Edward Szlanfucht of Elkhart, and two grandchildren. Services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, with Rev. Ronald P. Raab CSC, deacon of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 1201 S. Michigan.
