MISHAWAKA - Bernice R. Gregory, 94, formerly of Mishawaka, passed away Friday morning, May 15, 2015, in Renaissance Village near Ft. Wayne. Bernice was born June 22, 1920, in Ada, Yugoslavia, a daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria (Faher) Gyarmati. At one year old she came with her family to the United States. She grew up in Mishawaka and attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School. On November 21, 1936, Bernice married Henry J. Gregory. They met while he was working on her father's farm. Bernice was employed for 20 years at Uniroyal. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka where she sang in the choir and belonged to the Rosary Society. She volunteered at St. Joseph Grade School while her son was growing up. Bernice enjoyed being a homemaker, baking and keeping her home nice. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; her son, Henry "Skipp" Gregory; and a sister, Irene Wagner. Bernice is survived by three grandchildren, Kurt Gregory of Ft. Wayne, Kevin Gregory of Ft. Wayne and Kristina (Patrick) Carpenter of North Carolina; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph (Doris) Gyarmati of Mishawaka; and a sister, Elizabeth Noens of Mishawaka. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Tuesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Visitation will be from 4 7 pm Monday in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, where the Rosary will be prayed at 4 pm.
