SOUTH BEND, IN - Gertrude Zakrocki, age 94, passed away July 28 at the Bailey Family Center for Caring in St. Augustine, FL, following a brief illness. A native of South Bend, Gertrude was born on July 18, 1924 to the late Peter and Veronica Wilczynski on June 16, 1945 at St. Casimir Catholic Church. She was united in marriage to Herbert Zakrocki who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters. Gertrude resided most of her life in South Bend, moving to St. Augustine, Florida in June of 2010 to be near her family. She will be greatly missed by her son, LeRoy Zakrocki and his wife, Pat; three grandchildren, Steven Zakrocki (Amanda), Keri Zakrocki Jacobs (Cameron), and Gina Zakrocki Sharpe (Zach); six great-grandchildren, to whom she was most affectionately known as G.G., all of St. Augustine, FL; and her sister-in-law, Shirley Wills of South Bend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at a later date in South Bend at St. Adalberts Catholic Church. Entombment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
