Joseph William Mucha, age 86, went to be with his Lord Sunday, February 7, 2016. He was born in Lansing, MI the son of Frank and Helen (Lynch) Mucha, later moving to Wyoming, MI where he graduated from Wyoming Park High School in 1948. He married Betty Wobma and together raised five children who all graduated from Grand Valley State University. He was a proud member of the Operating Engineers Local 324 for 62 years working throughout Western Michigan. He later worked closer to home for Riverside Sand and Gravel for 35 years as a shop foreman, doing all sorts of welding and whatever task needed to be done. He and his wife spent their winters in Florida where he enjoyed the heat and donating his time to Habitat for Humanity. They also spent time up north at Grandpa's cabin deer hunting, fire building, trout fishing and spending time with family. He enjoyed welding, anything involving a chainsaw, concrete work and roofing not only for himself but also family and friends. Joe is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years; his children, Debby (Mike) Nelson, Mike (Jean) Mucha, Frank (Rose) Mucha, Jeff (Michelle) Mucha, Janis (Jaap) Bosmeijer; 18 grandchildren; six and a half great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Paul, Edward, Elizabeth and Bessie. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 12, 2016 at 11AM at the Cornerstone Church, South Wyoming Campus, 2730 56th St. SW, Wyoming, MI with Reverend Marcia Elders officiating. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, February 11 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8PM at the Cook Funeral Home (West building) 4235 Prairie Street, SW, Grandville, and one hour prior to services. The family welcomes memories and messages in their online guestbook at www.cookcares.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Habitat for Humanity. The family would like to extend the deepest appreciation to the LemmenHolton Cancer and Hematology Center of West Michigan, and the excellent care and compassion Joe received from the staff at Spectrum Health.
