DECATUR - Margaret "Marge" May Lewandowski, 92, of Decatur, died Tuesday, June 9, at Riveridge Manor in Niles. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 25, 2015, for family and friends at Hamilton Cemetery in Decatur with Father Patrick Craig of Holy Family Catholic Church, Decatur, officiating. In accordance with Margaret's wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family, c/o Jack Lewandowski. Those wishing to leave a memory or condolence of Marge online may do so at www.clarkch.com. Marge was born September 18, 1922, in Chicago, IL, to Frank and Mary (Szymanski) Lewandowski. As a child she moved from Chicago to Michigan and attended school and graduated in Decatur, MI. Marge grew up with two brothers and one sister on a farm with her parents in the Decatur area. She survived the Great Depression and worked hard to help her parents and siblings. Marge never married and after leaving Chicago and coming to Decatur, she worked for many years and retired from Rudy Manufacturing Company. She loved gardening and growing vegetables as well as spending time outdoors. She loved dogs and was especially fond of her Sheltie, "Sandy." Marge enjoyed listening to the radio news broadcasts and commentary and was very interested in weather forecasts. Marge is survived by three nephews, George (Joann) Lewandowski of South Bend, IN, Jack (Diane) Lewandowski and Al (Debbie) Lewandowski of Dowagiac, and many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, one sister and parents. Published in South Bend Tribune on June 21, 2015
