The history of the parish of the Holy Cross (Exaltatio s. Crucis) in Żołędowo date back 1,582 years. The parish was founded heirs żołędowscy wanting to become independent of the pastors wyszogrodzkich. Initially, the parish belonged to the diocese, and included the village: Żołędowo, Hawks, Myślęcinek and NEKLA. Over the centuries, territorial and membership in the church parish have changed. According to the privilege of Pope Clement XI of 20 April 1720 the parish began to celebrate the feast of pilgrimage on Sunday 14 September. At the end of the eighteenth century parish it was annexed to the parish osielskiej. At the same time was part of the deanery Fordon. Again he regained independence in 1836. Since then they began to form registry books. Parishioners actively participated in the spiritual life of the community of the faithful, including operated wheel Rosary Men and Women. Young people also willingly engaged in ecclesial life, since 1910 there Circle Rosary young men and Maidens, which had a population of 120 people and the Association of Catholic Youth. In 1928, the boundaries of the parish greatly expanded. To the Church in Żołędowo they attended also residents of neighboring villages: Bożenkowa, Dabrowa, Berry, Linówca, Liaison, Maksymilianów, Nekla, new bridges and the well of. In 1991, the parish was divided. It was established a separate church in Maximilian, which started attending half of the faithful.
