SOUTH BEND -- Esther S. Prentkowski, 77, of North Huey Street, died Tuesday in her home. Survivors include her husband, Benjamin; three daughters, Karen Wolfe and Judy Rupert, both of Walkerton, and Connie Kwiatkowski of South Bend; and four sisters, Virginia Floor and Betty Lou Harman, both of South Bend, Josephine Coryn of Mishawaka and Clara Gum of Petersburg, Ill. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Catholic Church. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Esther S. Prentkowski, 77, of North Huey Street, South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2004, in her home.

Esther was born on May 14, 1927, in South Bend, to the late Joseph and Constance (Janowiak) Piasecki, and was a lifelong area resident. On April 12, 1947, as Esther S. Piasecki, she married Benjamin J. Prentkowski, who survives.

Along with her husband of 57 years, she is survived by her three daughters, Karen (John) Wolfe and Judy (Charles) Rupert, Jr., both of Walkerton, Indiana, and Connie (Joseph) Kwiatkowski of South Bend; seven grandchildren, Wendy Hite, Michael and Stacy Wolfe, Kim Lowman, Kelly Lester and Craig and Brian Kwiatkowski; three great-grandchildren, Taryn Hite, Ashley Lester and Conner Lowman; and four sisters, Virginia Floor of South Bend, Josephine (Marcel) Coryn of Mishawaka, Indiana, Betty Lou Harman of South Bend and Clara Gum of Petersburg, Illinois.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Sophia Hecklinski, Harriet Kolupa, Irene Siderits and Eleanor Dixon; and a brother, Frank Piechorowski.

Mrs. Prentkowski worked for Uniroyal for 20 years, before retiring in 1982. She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyrs Catholic Church, South Bend.

Visitation for Esther will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2004, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2004, in St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyrs Church, 415 North Brookfield Street, South Bend, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.

Memorial contributions may be made in Esther's name to the charity of the donor's choice.
