GRANGER - Loretta M. Ewald, 89, of Granger, IN, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Community North Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. She was born on May 16, 1925 to the late Joseph and Nellie Kominkiewicz in South Bend, IN, and has lived in Granger, IN, for over 60 years, before moving to Indianapolis six months ago. On July 3, 1945, as Loretta M. Kominkiewicz, she married Sylvester J. Ewald at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. He died on February 17, 2003. Along with her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents and a son, Thomas M. Ewald. Loretta is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth J. (Carol) Ewald of Indianapolis, IN; and another daughter-in-law, Cathy Ewald of Noblesville, IN; three grandchildren, Mike and Brett Ewald, and Alissa Trowbridge; and three great-grandchildren, Evan, Bree, and Isla. Loretta was a member of St. Pius X Parish in Granger, IN for more than 60 years, where she belonged to the Senior Group of the church. Visitation will be from 9:30 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at St. Pius X Catholic Church Chapel, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, IN, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, with Rev. Terrence Coonan officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, IN is handling arrangements.
