Raymond J. Krych, 81, of South Bend, IN, died at 10:10 PM Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Hospice House. He was born on June 5, 1927 to the late Peter and Josephine (Kubiak) Krych in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Along with his parents; one daughter, Judith A. Krych; and one son, John R. Krych also preceded him in death. Mr. Krych retired in 1994 from the South Bend Public Library, where he was in charge of building services for 21 years. He was a graduate of Washington High School in South Bend. On August 7, 1948, he married Zenobia A. Kwiecinski at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. She died on November 23, 1985. He is survived by his three daughters, Joanne M. Grzeskowiak of South Bend, IN; Patricia A. (Lawrence) Hartley of Gainesville, FL; Nancy A. (John) Matthews of South Bend, IN; four grandchildren, Mark and Eric Grzeskowiak, both of South Bend, IN; Heather and Christopher Hartley, both of Gainesville, FL; a brother, Patrick Krych of South Bend, IN; and his loving companion of 17 years, Clara Szigeti of South Bend, IN. Mr. Krych was a member of St. Stanislaus Parish in South Bend; Knights of Columbus Council # 5570; Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge # 2083 in Mishawaka; American Legion Post #357; and the Army/Navy Union #146. Raymond was an Army Veteran of W.W. II and enjoyed fishing; gardening; Polka Dancing and listening to Polka Party. Visitation will be from 2-8 PM Friday, January 30, 2009 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 5 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 31, 2009 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, South Bend. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, where Military Services will be conducted by American Legion Post #357.
