Edward E. Ronconi
Dec. 11, 1952 - Sept. 7, 2017
MISHAWAKA - Edward Ronconi, 64, was surrounded by loved ones as he peacefully passed from this world on September 7th at Hospice House of South Bend. Ed was born on December 11, 1952 in Mishawaka to Eugene ( Hector) and Esther (Henke) Ronconi both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Joseph and daughter, Katherine. Joe and his father shared a love for the Cubs and the Beatles. Kate was his joy and he cherished her. Ed graduated from Mishawaka High School and attended Western Kentucky University before serving as a medic in the U.S. Army. He was proud to have served our country. After leaving the Army, he began a career with the Mishawaka Street Department where he worked for 33 years before retiring in 2016. He said it was a great year because he retired and the Cubs won the World Series! He was a fan of Notre Dame sports, especially women's basketball. He could tell you the stats on all of the players. NASCAR was another one of his passions. He followed Jeff Gordon and attended every Brickyard 400 since it began until this year. Through work he made lifelong friends, his “brothers from other mothers”, Art and Steve. After retiring they enjoyed getting together for meals and talking. Steve and Ed were golfing buddies for many years. To his cousin Patti (Jim) Coddens, Ed was more like a big brother who was always there for her. Family and friends will miss Ed dearly. A memorial service is being planned for spring. Hahn Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the final arrangements.
