May 16, 1924 in South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana; Eugene is listed on the 1930 South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana census, living with his parents and brother at 506 Victoria Street; Gene served in the United State Marine Corps during World War II; SS# 317-18-2354 issued in Indiana before 1951; Gene was a tool and die designer for Bendix in South Bend, Indiana, Conco, Inc. in Mendota, Illinois and Boeing in Renton and Auburn, Washington; Gene worked on the air car from Curtis-Wright in South Bend, Indiana in the early 1960's; m. on June 9, 1945 in South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana to Gloria Alma Bates (daughter of Russell Arthur and Mary Carmelita "Carmel" Pittman Bates), who was b. at home on Dec. 10, 1924 in South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana, chr. Dec. 28, 1924 at Sacred Heart Church, and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in South Bend in 1942; the family moved from South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana to Nashville, Tennessee in 1956, back to South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana in 1957, to Mendota, LaSalle County, Illinois in 1966, to Kent, Washington in 1978, and to Buffalo, Johnson County, Wyoming in 1990; while living in Illinois, they drove back to Indiana every summer for a week's vacation with family; Gene had his left leg amputated below the knee in June 1992 in Washington because of Charcot's Foot Syndrome, and his second leg amputated below the knee in June 1998 in Washington because of gangrene, both losses as a result of diabetes; Gene d. Oct. 29, 2000, was cremated, and his ashes are bur. in Willow Grove Cemetery, Buffalo, Johnson County, Wyoming, close to the graves of his two grandsons; children following
