Ingvar H. Lofgren, 93 years old, passed away the morning of February 21, 2023 while surrounded by his family in Mishawaka, Indiana. He was born in Stockholm, Sweden on November 29, 1929 to Hjälmar and Vera Lofgren, who both preceded him in death. He graduated from Tekniska Institutet in Stockholm with a degree in Architectural Engineering. Ingvar is survived by his wife Maria Lofgren and his children Barbara Lofgren (Ron Hust) of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Pamela (Peter) Luria of Miami Beach, Florida and Gregory Lofgren of Mishawaka, Indiana; four grandchildren, Joseph, Julian (Laura), Brandon and Karin (Cody); as well as three great-grandsons. Ingvar came to Indiana in 1951 and served in the Army Corp of Engineers during the Korean War. Upon his return, he commenced his successful architectural career. As a partner in Donlon Lofgren Maenhout & Associates Architects, Ingvar designed numerous schools, apartments, Industrial and Civic buildings in the Indiana and Michigan area during the 1960’s and 1970’s including the Mishawaka Public Library. He was also a partner in Cedar Crest and Jefferson Estate apartments. In his younger years, he was a winning competitive ski jumper in Sweden. He enjoyed sailing and later taking his kids for rides in his Bonanza airplane. No services are scheduled at this time.
