Mrs. Joan L. Paskiet, 83, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Monday, August 24, 2020, surrounded by her loved ones. Joan was born on December 1, 1936 to the late Ormand and Lottie (Kolczynski) Switalski. A life-long resident of South Bend, Joan was united in marriage to Mr. Stanley Paskiet II on October 26, 1957. He preceded her in death on December 5, 2006 after 50 years of marriage. Joan was a proud parent and spent her adult life as a homemaker. She loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and cherished the time she got to spend with them. Joan was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Joan is survived by her daughter, Diane (Daniel) Newman of Niles, MI; six grandchildren: Brandon (Kimberly) Paskiet of South Bend, IN, Courtney (Cory) Sommer of Eustis, FL, Stanley Paskiet IV of Eustis, FL, Danny Newman of Mishawaka, IN, Monica (Bret) Wood of Elkhart, IN and Jacob Newman of San Diego, CA; five great-grandchildren: Dayton Paskiet, Joseph Paskiet, Charley Sommer, Marleigh Fredrickson and Jacob Newman; daughter-in-law Sherrie Paskiet of Eustis, FL; sisters Mary Ann Mrozinski and Marie (John) Popielski; brother Jim Switalski of Elkhart, IN; as well as a host of extended family members and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Joan was preceded in death by her son, Stanley Paskiet III and two sisters: Betty Szymczyk and Patricia Robinson. Per the family’s wishes, no public services are currently scheduled. The family will gather at a later date to celebrate Joan’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joan's honor to Center For Hospice South Bend, 111 Sunnybrook Court, Roseland IN 46537.
