SOUTH BEND - Alice M. Machowiak, 88, passed away peacefully at 2:55 pm on Monday, April 16, 2012, in Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. Alice was born in South Bend to the late Walter and Blanche (Trudzinski) Stefaniak. On February 14, 1942, in South Bend, Alice married Stanley L. Machowiak, who preceded her in death on December 3, 2006. Alice was also preceded in death by her brother, Ben Stefaniak. Alice is survived by daughter, Patricia (Richard) Rozmarynowski of South Bend; sons, Stanley (Jean) Machowiak Jr. and Robert Machowiak of South Bend; grandchildren, Deborah (Roger) Balderas of South Bend, Julie Rozmarynowski of Tampa and Bryan (Cindy) Rozmarynowski of South Bend; great-grandchildren, Jason, Kyle and Brandon Markovich, Aleena Ruscella and Eusebia Balderas; step-great-grandchildren, Andy, Alex and Aaron; and two step-great-great-grandchildren. Alice was a beautician for almost 40 years at Robertson's Department Store and retired from Silhouette Beauty Salon. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. Alice was a member of VFW 9820 Ladies Auxiliary, St. Casimir Senior Citizens, and she very much enjoyed gardening and collecting cookbooks. Most of all she loved family gatherings. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 20, 2012, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, 56405 Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN 46619; or to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3526 St. Johns Way, South Bend, IN 46628.
