Clara (Claire) Risley, 94, of Mishawaka, Indiana passed away at 5:25 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2022, in The Raclin House. Clara was born on July 1, 1927 in South Bend to Andrew and Mary (Pawela) Skubiszewski, and was a lifelong resident. She had been employed for eleven years in the Accounts Payable Department at the University of Notre Dame. On June 5, 1948, in St. Casimir Church, she married Gene Risley who preceded her in death on July 23, 2003. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Helen Filchak, Sophie Wrobel, Marie Jackowiak and Ann Niezgodski; and three brothers, Chester, Walter and Stanley Skubiszewski. Clara is survived by her daughter, Jane (Terrance) Mahoney of Granger, Indiana; her son, David (Connie) Risley of Muncie, Indiana; four grandchildren, Andrew (Bethany) Risley, Greg Mahoney (Jennifer Jones Mahoney), Erin (Robert) Jones and Kathryn Mahoney; and nine great-grandchildren, Jayden, Isabelle, Quincey and Lucy Jones, Matthew, Michael and Hannah Mahoney and Elise and Ace Risley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2022 in St. Anthony de Padua Church. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Friday in the church. Clara was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Church and Legion of Mary Teresa. She enjoyed golfing in the St. Matthew Golf League at Notre Dame. She was an avid card player and baker. Clara was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished her family.
