Minnie C. Colanese
April 26, 1918 - September 11, 2006

Minnie C. Colanese, 88, of E. Aspen Lane at Hudson Lake in New Carlisle, IN, passed away at 10:50pm Monday, September 11, 2006 in Miller�s Merry Manor, New Carlisle, IN. She was born to the late Joseph and Mary (Clemente) Costanzo in Chicago, IL, and has lived at Hudson Lake in New Carlisle since 1946, coming from Chicago. Along with her parents; one son, Joseph E. Colanese, Jr.; one sister; and three brothers also preceded her in death. Mrs. Colanese worked as an accountant for the former Wonderland Variety Store in LaPorte, IN for several years; and was also proud of the fact that she worked as a �Rosie The Riveter� during World War II.
In June of 1946 (following World War II), as Minnie C. Costanzo, she married Joseph E. Colanese, Sr. in Chicago, IL. They then moved to Hudson Lake, and she lived happily there the rest of her life. Joseph died on March 4, 1999. She is survived by three sons, John C. (Donna) Colanese of New Carlisle, IN; James D. (Pat) Colanese of Lakeville, IN; Jerry P. (Debbie) Colanese of New Carlisle, IN; nine grandchildren, Jason, Jessica, Jennifer, Jamie, Justin, Josh, Jared, Jordan, Jayna; one great grandson, Evan; one sister, Kay Czachor of Jacksonville, FL; and one brother, Carmen Costanzo of Texas. Mrs. Colanese was a member of St. John Kanty Parish, where she belonged to the Rosary Society; a member of the local War Mothers; Hudson Starliters; Friends Forever; Golden Agers; and the Ladies Auxiliary Veteran of Foreign Wars Post No. 9423 in Rolling Prairie, IN. Minnie was also a Cub Scout Den Mother and an Election Official. Minnie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She kept her family happily together by constantly feeding them. She was an excellent and creative cook each day, often serving Sunday dinner for 10 to 20 people. She had a great memory, rarely using a phone book, and often recalling minute details from many years past. Minnie had a great life and will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be from 4-8pm (E.S.T.) Thursday, September 14, 2006 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am (E.S.T.) Friday, September 15, 2006 at St. John Kanty Catholic Church in Rolling Prairie, IN, with Rev. Michael Heimer officiatng. Burial will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery
