MISHAWAKA - Jody L. Alerding, 58, of Mishawaka, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018. She was born on August 25, 1959, in South Bend, to the late Maurice Holvoet and Betty Witter. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Lary. Jody leaves behind her daughter, Samantha Alerding of Mishawaka; three stepdaughters, Heather Alerding of South Bend, Alyson Alerding of Indianapolis, IN, and Jennifer (Matt) Datema of Goshen, IN; their father, Joe Alerding of South Bend; and seven and 1/2 grandchildren, Marli, Hannah, Brooklyn, Ethan, Keith, Alex, Ali, and one on the way. Jody retired from the United States Postal Service in 2012, after 19 years of employment. She loved to be outdoors, travel to the state of Michigan, drink wine, take care of animals, play golf, and spend time with her family, especially her grand-babies. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2018 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend.
