Pauline R. Koehler, 91, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 4:10 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2018 at St. Paul’s Senior Living Community. She was born on December 26, 1926 to the late Julian and Emelia (Kilinski) Bilinski in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Along with her parents; she was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Koehler; four sisters, Mary Machulis, Alice Mejer, Emily Karczewski, Adeline Macalka; and two brothers, Carl and Harry Bilinski. Pauline retired in 1987 from Memorial Hospital of South Bend, where she worked as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room for 25 years. On September 26, 1953, as Pauline Bilinski, she married David P. Koehler at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. He passed away on November 30, 2010. Pauline is survived by two daughters, Julie Ann (Dave) Yoder of Osceola, IN; Alice M. (Dr. Michael) Blakesley of South Bend, IN; two sons, Frederick J. (Pam Kratkoczki) Koehler of Clarkston, MI; David P. (Vicki) Koehler of South Bend, IN; seven grandchildren, Miles and Madison Alicia Blakesley; Dagney,Thaddeus, Grace Elizabeth, Brennon, and Marissa Koehler; and a brother-in-law, Eugene Karczewski of South Bend, IN. Pauline was a member of Holy Family Parish; M.R. Falcons Nest No. 4; Bowlers Country Club, and St. Matthew Golf League. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at The Memorial Chapel at St. Paul’s, 3602 S. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, IN, where family and friends may visit one hour before the mass. Cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to: Heartland Hospice, 230 W. Catalpa Drive, Suite D, Mishawaka, IN 46545-8322.
