According to the 1900 and 1910 censuses of South Bend, St Joseph County, Indiana, Michael and Sofia Koczan (who had married circa 1883) and their six children came from Hungary in 1898. Three more children were born in Indiana. The children included (in birth order) Anna, Theresa, Michael, John, Charles, Mary, Frank, Stephen and Joseph. The marriage records of the children who immigrated indicate that the family had come from Hegyko, Sopron, Hungary.
