Mrs. Stella Maternowski
Mrs. Stella Maternowski, 743 South Walnut street died in her residence at 3:30 p.m. Saturday after three weeks illness. She was born in South Bend Jan. 6, 1896 and lived her life here. She was married in 1915 to Charles Maternowski area grocer. He survives along with three sons, John, Chester and Charles jr., three daughters Mrs. Esther Kromkowski, Mrs. Lucille Gasko and Mrs. Marie Czarnecki all of South Bend. 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Rev. Theobald Kalamaja, O.F.M. of Cleveland, O. Michael Kalamaja of Omaha, Neb. and Joseph Kalamaja, South Bend and five sisters, Mrs. Salomea Banicki, Mrs Mary Kaczorowski, Mrs. Frances Przybysz, Mrs. Hattie Like and Mrs. Rose Kubiak, all of South Bend. She was a member of the Rosary Society, the Women's Civic Club and the AdvocationSociety of St. Casimir's Catholic church of the Parent Teacher Associations of St. Casimir's school and South Bend Catholic High School, the Federation of America No. 63, the Polish American Businesswoman's Association and the West Side Democratic club. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today in the Kaniewski & Son chapel and until the funeral at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Casimir's church. Rev. Casimir Witucki, C.S.C. paster will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Polish Cemetery.
