SOUTH BEND - Robert J. “B.O.B.” Pauwels, age 69, of Hobart, passed away Friday, April 1, 2016. He was born in South Bend on January 7, 1947 to the late Maurice and Martha Pauwels. Robert was a graduate of St. Joe High School and Tri-State College and was a retiree of US Steel blast furnace and coal plant. He was a member of St. Bridget Church and enjoyed golfing and bowling in his free time. Robert will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary K. (Torok); son, Anthony (Laure) Pauwels of Hobart; daughter, Pamela Pauwels of Hobart; grandchildren, Craig, Cassandra and Anthony; brother, Joseph Pauwels of South Bend; 2 sisters, Marie Pauwels of South Bend and Judy (Tom) Truesdell of Seattle; nieces and nephews and other family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice, 2401 Valley Dr., Valparaiso, IN 46383.Funeral services for Robert will be TODAY, Tuesday, April 5, 2016 beginning with 9:30 a.m. prayers at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart and going in procession for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bridget Catholic Church, corner of Front and Center in Hobart, with Rev. Dominic V. Bertino and Rev. Bob Rayson concelebrating. Visitation was Monday, April 4, 2016 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with a 2:30 p.m. Rosary service at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, (219) 942-2109.
