GALIEN - Bonnie J. Braje, age 83, of Galien, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, Indiana. Bonnie was born June 2, 1934 in Galien, Michigan to Hiram and Mildred (Payne) Kleine. She married Charles Braje on August 8, 1953 in Three Oaks, Michigan. He survives. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Devon “Shorty” Kleine. Bonnie worked alongside her husband in their family owned business, Braje Tile Drainage, for the area farmers for over 50 years. Her biggest joy was attending her grandchildren's school and sporting events, which sometimes included coming straight from the fields, muddy boots and all! Bonnie never missed a Grandparents Day with them! She also loved coaching them with their fair projects. Bonnie always thought of others before herself. She was known for feeding everyone. For many years, she was found every Tuesday morning quilting with the ladies at the Galien American Legion. Bonnie will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles Braje of Galien; “her 7 girls”: Cindy (Doug) Pressey, Carol (John) O'Brien, Lori (Brian) Payne, Lisa (Dave) Mead, Lynne (Guy) Wilson, Cristy (Jim) Daniel, and Marla (Lance) Shortman; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Family and friends will gather Sunday, March 11, 2018 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Pobocik Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 106 Ash Street East, Three Oaks, Michigan 49128. A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Pastor Dan Miller from Summit Church in Niles will be officiating. Bonnie's remains will be laid to rest in Galien Cemetery. The family prefers contributions be made in Bonnie's memory to the Ronald McDonald House, 211 E Grand Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60611.
