KNOX - , 81, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, in her home.
Mrs. Wakal was born January 30, 1932, in Chicago, IL, to Leander and Nelda (Hart) Schrishuhn, and lived in the area since 1946. On July 29, 1950, in Hamlet, IN, she was married to William Wakal, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Kathy (David) Young of Hendersonville, NC; two sons, William L. (Shirlee) Wakal of Knox and Ben Wakal of Peru, IN; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Diane; one grandson, Aaron; and by a sister, Wanda Lotter. Mrs. Wakal was a former executive secretary and retired from McGill Manufacturing in Culver. She was a member of the Knox United Methodist Church and she sang in the Knox United Methodist Christmas Cantata. She was also a past member of the Tri Kappa and the California Township Homemakers Club. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. (Central Time) at the Knox United Methodist Church, with Pastor Ray Squibb officiating.Burial will follow at the Crown Hill Cemetery, Knox.
