Joseph J. "Bouncer" Lyczynski, age 90, of Portage Road South Bend, died at 2:15 p.m. Monday in his residence. He was born March 10, 1909, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Lyczynski retired from the university of Notre Dame. On July 24, 1943 in South Bend, he married Esther Stachurski, who preceded him in death on Jan. 18, 1987. Surviving are two daughters, Tina (George) Wlochowski and Deborah (Bob) Wojtasik, both of South Bend; two sons, David Lyczynski of South Bend and Thomas Lyczynski of Phoeniz, AZ.; six grandchildren; a brother Leo Lyczynski; and three nephews, Albert and Ronald Stachurski of Illinois and Daniel Stachurski of South Bend. Preceding him in death was a nephew Ralph Stachurski; three brothers Edward, Anthony and Daniel; and a sister Eleanor Miller. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637.
