Mr. Floyd R. Huryn, 87, of LaPorte, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at 10:43 p.m. at Life Care Center of Michigan City. He was born Oct. 6, 1916, in Michigan City to Frank and Helen (Komasinski) Huryn. Mr. Huryn retired after 12 years from Bethlehem Steel as an EMT. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and American Legion Skwiat Post 451, both in Michigan City. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. On Oct. 5, 1946, in Michigan City, he married Norma Batzel, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Gail of LaPorte; two sons, David and Mark, both of LaPorte; one sister, Margaret Biederstadt of Michigan City; and two brothers, Clem of Michigan City and Walter of Trail Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Mamie Goede, Gertrude Barth, Bernice Kominski and Lena Glover; and three brothers, John, Edward and Frank. The funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. James McGrogan officiating. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m.; and Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1001 W. 8th St., Michigan City, IN 46360.
