SOUTH BEND - Julius J. Van Hulle, 88, passed away at 9:02am December 22, 2016 in Healthwin Specialized Care Facility. Julius was born on April 30, 1928 in Elkhorn, WI to Theodore and Clara (Piejens) Van Hulle. On July 31, 1948 in South Bend he married Rose M. Mayerhofer, who died on June 21, 2016. Julius was also preceded in death by a daughter Mary Van Hulle, son, Kenneth Van Hulle, 5 sisters Emma Mayfield, Clarice Hull, Leona Bass, Mary Horvath and Esther Torkin and 2 brothers John Van Hulle and Edward Van Hulle and a grandson Julius “Joey” Stites. Surviving are 2 daughters Dorothy (Michael) Bonadies-Downey of Indianapolis and Marsha (Terry) Kinney of South Bend, a son Thomas (Virginia) Van Hulle of South Bend 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Julius retired from the South Bend Community School Corporation, was a United States Navy veteran, a member of the Knights of Columbus, John Carroll Council 5570 and the former D.F.V. German Club. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00pm Tuesday, December 27, 2016 in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10am to 12pm Tuesday in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Zahoran Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
