Norma Jean Kolanowski, 89, of Lebanon and formerly of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away on February 16, 2019 at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, Indiana. She was born in Hudson, Michigan, on August 4, 1929, a daughter of the late Harvey Eugene and Mabel (Hammel) Wolf. On October 30, 1948, she was married to Virgil Leonard Kolanowski. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1987.Raised in Hudson, Michigan, Jean was a graduate of Hudson High School. She attended Elkhart University where she received her business degree in nursing. For many years, she was a medical secretary at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. She had also worked in the office at White's Electronics in Elkhart for a period of time. Jean was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Elkhart for over 50 years and St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Lebanon. Jean and her husband liked treasure hunting with metal detectors. In addition to her family, she also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and Sudoku and crossword puzzles. Survivors include two sons, Daniel (Jean) Kolanowski of Lebanon, Dave (Cathy) Kolanowski of Indianapolis; daughter, Julia (Dan) Lee of Elkhart, Indiana; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother, Warren S. (Elzora) Wolf of Hudson, Michigan; sister, Mildred G. Wilson of Hudson, Michigan and several nieces and nephews In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Mae Wolf.
Visitation is planned for 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 319 East South Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Saint Vincent de Paul Cemetery in Elkhart, Indiana.
