WAKARUSA, IN - Kathleen Kay Balasa, 77, of Wakarusa, died 5:05 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2018 at her home. She was born March 8, 1941 to Ray & Roberta (Coons) Lowman. She married Andrew “AJ” Balasa on April 23, 1960 and he died Dec. 16, 2009. She later married Theodore “Ted” M. Alexander on May 24, 2014 and he died May 16, 2016.Surviving are a daughter, Laura Balasa of Wakarusa; sons, Bryan (Pam) Balasa of Mendon, Michigan, Bruce Balasa of Mishawaka, and Bradley (Nicole) Balasa of Nappanee; 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joy Banicki of Plymouth and Sue (Will) Norton of Loganville, Georgia; sister-in-law, Connie (Dick) Heminger of Buchanan, Michigan; and a brother-in-law, Mike (Carol) Balasa of Palm Springs, California. Preceding her in death are her parents; husbands, Andrew Balasa & Theodore Alexander; and a sister, Joann Mulkey. Kathleen was owner of AJ Security and Fire Extinguisher and Balasa's Archery. She enjoyed plants, flowers, gardening, and walks. She always enjoyed cooking and baking for anyone and everyone, never letting anyone go hungry. Kathleen loved spending time with kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018 at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018 at Wakarusa Missionary Church, 202 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa. Pastor Harold Knight will officiate.
