SOUTH BEND - David J. Rzepka, 80, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 8 p.m. in his residence. David was born on November 2, 1928, in New Carlisle, IN, to the late Walter "Lott" and Josephine "Josie" (Jurgonski) Rzepka. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Henrietta Bazyk and Clara Rzepka; and by one brother, Henry Rzepka. On September 30, 1950 in Bronson, MI, he married Eleanor Herman, she survives along with their son, Larry (Denise) Rzepka of South Bend; two grandchildren, Justin Rzepka of South Bend and Ashley Rzepka of South Bend; two sisters, Irene Wojcik of New Carlisle, IN, and Adeline (Clem "Chub") Solmos of South Bend; and by his three brothers, Clem (Elaine) Rzepka of South Bend, Bernard "Jake" (Phyllis) Rzepka of South Bend and Norbert (Elaine) Rzepka of Niles, MI. David was a carpenter for Woodcox Builders, a member of the Carpenters Union Local 413, P.N.A., Nest 83 and was a parishioner at Holy Family Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army and was a member of American Legion Post 357. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2009 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 827 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, May 18, 2009, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Gardens Mausoleum, St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Visitation will also be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the liturgy.
