SOUTH BEND - Albert Gorbitz, 91, passed away at 11:47 am Monday, May 20, 2013. Albert was born October 31, 1921, in South Bend, to the late Anthony and Ella Gorbitz. Albert married Geraldine Gorbitz, who preceded him in death. Albert was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline Gorbitz, and by several brothers and a sister. Survivors include daughters, Marie Mustard of Los Angeles, CA, Beverly (Robert) Wesolowski of South Bend and Toni (Robert) Thompson of Nashville, TN; brother, Oscar (Charlotte) Gorbitz of Las Cruces, NM; grandchildren, Timothy, Jason and Jeremy Mustard, Ann and Brent Wesolowski, Stacey Borkowski, and Summer Thompson-Naylor; and 10 great- grandchildren. Albert served his country in the United States Army during WW II, and was a member of the VFW Post 360. Albert retired from AM General in 1989 after many years of service, and he was parishioner of St. Jude Catholic Church. He was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan. Albert was a very loving father and grandfather and he was a very strong-willed man; when he made up his mind to do something, he made sure it was done. Visitation for Albert will be 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm today, May 22, 2013, in the mausoleum at Fairview Cemetery. A funeral service will take place at 2:00 pm. St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Road, South Bend, Indiana 46614.
