Sheri (Osowski) Basta
Dec. 7, 1969 - Aug. 9, 2017
SOUTH BEND - Sheri Basta, 47, of Menlo Park, CA, formerly Sheri Osowski of South Bend, IN, passed way in her home in CA, with her family by her side, after a courageous 6-year battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her husband, Steven Basta and daughters, Audrey, Tula, and Willow. Sheri is survived in the South Bend community by her father, Ronald J. Osowski and mother, Darlene (Dave) Celmer of South Bend; and sisters, Lorraine (Bob) Badowski of Lakeville, IN, Ann Bartels, Rhonda (Phil) Vera and Stacey (Ron) Compton all of South Bend, IN and Holly (Chris) Sparks-Henderson of Granger, IN. Her local nephews and nieces are: Jim, Becca, Rachel, and Joe Badowski; Robert, Andy, and Will Bartels; Cassandra, Phillip, and Jessica Vera; Danny and Mikey Compton; Madison and Benjamin Sparks; Aaron, Mary, and Matt Henderson. She also leaves many aunts, uncles, and cousins locally, along with family in California and London, England, and many dear Friends in CA. We will all miss her dearly. Sheri has been reunited with her grandparents, Dorothy and Anthony Czarnecki and Betty and Theophil Osowski, who preceded her in death. Sheri graduated from Penn High School in 1988. She then went on to study business at IU Bloomington, graduating in 1992. Her sense of adventure started early while traveling abroad to Europe during high school and continued with sky diving, long distance bike riding, and adding many more stamps to her passport. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and being out in nature. Sheri was extraordinarily dedicated to her adopted community at the Peninsula School in Menlo Park, which her girls attend. In keeping with Sheri's wishes, she has been cremated. A celebration of her life will take place on Sunday, September 3, 2017, at Potawatomi Park, Pavilion #4, from 1-5pm and September 17, 2017 in Menlo Park, CA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her honor may be made to The Peninsula School in Menlo Park, CA (peninsulaschool.org). A memorial website has been created at sheribasta.com.
