[N3813] Alice Lewandowski
April 20, 1928 - March 25, 2018
SOUTH BEND - Alice Lewandowski, 89, of Clermont, FL died March 25. Born April 20, 1928 to Anastasia (Karzewski) and Martin Lukaszewski, Alice was a lifelong resident of South Bend until 2015. On December 27, 1947, in St. Adelbert's Catholic Church, she married Harry Lewandowski, who passed away on Aug. 25, 2015. Also preceding her in death were sisters: Theresa (Albin) Botaka, Clara (Steve) Banicki, Annette (Bill) Goralski, Mary Sikorski, and Veronica Lukiaszewski; and brothers, Walt (Stephanie) and Edward (Helen) Lukaszewski; and sisters-in-law, Henrietta (George) Ervin and Helen (Fred) Langfeldt. Surviving are her children, Rebecca Hartman of Clermon, FL, Robert (Donna) of Davenport, FL, and Duane (Anne) of South Bend; grandson, Bradley Hartman of Serbring, FL; great-grandson, Alex; three step-granchildren, Elizabeth Einterz of Elgin, IL, Eric (Meghan) Robinson of Huston, TX, and Christina (Aaron) Schwinn of Burbank, CA; and three step-great-grandchildren, Evelyn Robinson, Azaliea and Madeleine Schwinn; as well as many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Clara (Edwin) Fisch of Castro Valley, CA. Alice was formerly a telephone operator with Indiana Bell and was an employee of the South Bend Community School Corp. for 15 years. She was known as “Sweet Alice” by many and indeed she was. The Holy Name Society of St. Matthew's Church, School Men's Wives Club, Chippewa Bowl, and the South Bend Alumni Association were her affiliations. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date. We will truly miss our devoted, wonderful mother but find peace in her with God. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital or the charity of the donor'schoice.
