SOUTH BEND - Irene M. Boros, 94, passed away at 7:30 pm Saturday, November 19, 2011, in the Ironwood Health & Rehab Center. Irene was born on January 21, 1917, in Port Huron, MI, to Stephen and Theresa (Horvath) Farkas. She was the owner / operator of Irene's Beauty Shop. Irene was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral, American Legion Post 50 Ladies Auxiliary, and the former St. Anthony Society Ladies Auxiliary. On April 4, 1945, in Our Lady of Hungary Church, she married Ernest "Mugsy" Boros, who died on August 6, 1990. She was also preceded in death by 3 sisters, Bertha Horvath, Theresa Zimmer and Mary Chadwick; and by a brother, Stephen Farkas. Surviving are a brother, Frank (Sylvia) Farkas Sr. of South Bend, and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 23, 2011, in St. Matthew Cathedral. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 pm today in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:30.
