SOUTH BEND - Irene A. Schymanski, 90, passed away at 8:30 pm Monday, August 20, 2012, in her residence. Irene was born August 27, 1921, in South Bend, to the late John and Sophie (Perlowski) Zagrzejewski. Irene was also preceded in death by sisters, Carrie Dorn and Martha Luczkowski; and brothers, Joseph Zagrzejewski, Steve Zagrzejewski and George Zack. On August 28, 1943, in South Bend, Irene married John S. Schymanki, who survives along with daughters, Judith (Uncle Chuckie) Hofer of South Bend and Janice Schymanski of South Bend; son, John J. (Deborah) Schymanski of Crown Point; and grandchildren, Rebecca and Jaclyn Schymanski of Crown Point. Irene retired after 25 years of service for the South Bend Community School Corporation, and enjoyed working on jig-saw puzzles. She was a parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 8:00 am to 9:30 am on Friday, August 24, 2012, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, August 24, 2012, in St. Patrick Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Guardian Angel Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to The Center of Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to Juvenile Diabetes, 2004 Ironwood Circle #140, South Bend, IN 46635.
