[N7266] Lucille Bartoszek Hogan
May 21, 1927 - Jan. 11, 2017
SOUTH BEND - Lucille Rose Cecile Bartoszek Hogan was the fourth of six children born to Sydney Bartoszek and Sophie Wegenka in South Bend, Indiana. She left us peacefully in Scotts Valley, California, after spending most of her life in Los Gatos, California. Lucille married Cornelius Joseph (Connie) Hogan in South Bend in 1952. They moved to Southern California and had four children, Cornelius Joseph (Neil), Kathleen Sophie, Anne Loretta and Janet Leona. Lucille was a wonderful mother who kept the family together and raised the children on her own after Connie passed away. In 1964, Lucille and the children moved to Los Gatos to be close to her sister, Loretta Catalano and family. Lucille was an astute business woman who developed a successful career as a Real Estate Broker. She had a passionate appreciation for art, music, fashion, and dance. Lucille spent her early years performing and teaching ballet in Cleveland and Chicago. She was active in the Los Gatos Arts Commission, the Historical Museum, the San Gatos Dance Theater and numerous other local commissions and boards dedicated to the arts. In her later years, she curated exhibits of resident artists at Brookdale Senior Living in Scotts Valley. Lucille is survived by her son, Neil and his wife Nani Kalahele; daughter, Anne and her husband, Kurt Edwards; grandchildren, Cornelius (Coree), Rebecca, Elizabeth, Ali, and Zephyr; and siblings, Patricia Zurat and John Bartoszek. She was preceded in death by her husband, Connie in 1960, and daughters, Kathleen in 1985, and Janet in 2006. A service was held for Lucille in Los Gatos, California. Lucille had a wonderful life and was loved by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed. We are so grateful and blessed to have known her bright spirit. Published in South Bend Tribune on Feb. 12,
