Cedar Grove's records indicate that the unmarked iron cross as being "unknown Wisniewski". In other words that is just speculation. A Jacob Slatt/Slott who died in 1904 would have to be buried at Cedar Grove since St Joseph Polish did not open until 1905. It is possible he could have been moved to St Joseph at a later date. I would check with St. Joseph Funeral Home to see if they have a record of the one who died in 1917. But their early records are poor at best. I have also heard that they have been uncooperative lately with researchers. The lot number that we are talking about at Cedar Grove for Jacob is E-213. There is a Cecilia Slott at Cedar Grove who died Aug. 31, 1909 age 60. She is on lot C-50.

Celestina Salomea Wisniewski was born about 1840 in Srebrnag©dra (Silver Hills) and died prior to 1/21/1899 the date of Jacobs second marriage. Since Cedar Grove was the only conseecrated ground at that time it is logical to assume she is burried at his lot. The only other site to my knowledge at that time was St Marys at Otis, Laporte County. Until anyone can prove otherwise I have placed her at Cedar Grove. We have not been able to find any verification of her death to date .
