South Bend - Louis Machowiak, 68, of Butternut Road, died at 5:18 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Medical Center after an illness. Mr. Machowiak retried from the former White House Manufacturing Co. and AM General Corp. He was born Aug 25, 1925, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. On Sept. 7, 1946, in South Bend, he married Alice Krakowski. She survives with a sister Harriet Chodzinski of South Bend; and two brothers, Vincent of South Bend and Michael of Mishawaka. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Casimir's Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Gardens Mausoleum of St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends my call from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Funeral Home.
