SOUTH BEND Edward E, Lyczynski, 77, of 831 S. Brookfield, died at 3:50 a.m. today in St. Joseph Medical Center following a three-month illness. He was a former Studebaker Corp. employee and retired from the St. Joseph County Highway Department where he was employed in maintenance for 10 years. He was born on Oct. 20, 1906 in South Bend and was a lifetime area resident. On Jan. 19, 1926 in South Bend he married Eleanor J. Aftowski, who survives. Also surviving are a brother. Mrs. Larry (Mary Ann) Lula of South Bend; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Eleanor Miller of Mishawaka; and four brothers, Joseph, Anthony and Leo, all of South Bend, and Daniel of Tucson, Ariz. A son, Edward J. died on July 30, 1975. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Marys Polish National Catholic Church, with Rev.Edwin Phillips, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. at Kaniewski and Sons Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday. He was a member of the West Side Democratic and Civic Club.
