MISHAWAKA - Vertsel J. "Jay" Steinbaugh, 81, passed away at home with family by his side on Tuesday, January 5. Jay was born on December 10, 1928, in Mishawaka, to Oscar and Martha (Britz) Steinbaugh. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brian; and three brothers, Lucian, Edgar and Byron. On March 18, 1950, in South Bend, Jay married the former Evelyn R. Schosker. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn; daughters, Christine (Andres) Meyer of Lafayette, IN, and Karen (Art) DeWitt of Elkhart; sons, Dennis Steinbaugh of Duluth, GA, and Bruce Steinbaugh of Kalamazoo, MI; three grandchildren, Arthur DeWitt, Daniel Steinbaugh and Brian DeWitt; two sisters, Patricia (William) Correll of Mishawaka and Kathleen Sisk of Nashville, TN; and a …
