SOUTH BEND - Ben C. Stajkowski, 83, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015, in Memorial Hospital. Ben was born March 14, 1931, in South Bend, to the late Stanley and Stella (Lechtanski) Stajkowski. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Irene Stajkowski, and brother, Raymond Stajkowski. Ben married Anna Deluca, who passed away in 1991. On November 10, 1994, Ben married his loving wife, Nancy (Pavey) Stajkowski, who survives along with his step-children, Joe (Beth) Mankowski, Mike (Linda) Mankowski, Todd (Angie) Mankowski, Jill (Michael) Thompson; and five stepgrandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Weesner, Angela Stajkowski; brother, Jerome (Shirley) Stajkowski; and several nieces and nephews. Ben honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Studebaker's and retired as a pricing analyst from AM General after more than thirty years of service. He loved working outdoors filling his yard with beautiful flowers and keeping his vegetable garden. Ben was a White Sox and Notre Dame fan. He was an avid reader keeping up with the world news. Ben was very much loved and respected by his stepchildren and grandchildren as he treated them as his own. Visitation for Ben will be 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Tuesday, January 13, 2015, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., where a Funeral Service will be celebrated at 1:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association , 6100 w. 96th.
