EDWARDSBURG - Daniel J. Kulwicki, 82, of Edwardsburg, MI, passed to his rest November 2, 2010 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, after an illness. He was born March 29, 1928, in South Bend, the son of the late Edward P. and Antonette (Cencelewski) Kulwicki. He moved to Edwardsburg in 1969 from South Bend. He had formerly worked at Studebaker, had been a farmer, and formerly owned his own construction company, known as Tollview Builders of South Bend. He retired from AM General. For many years, he was the building official in Ontwa Township and Milton Township. He formerly was building official in Jefferson Township, all in Cass County, Michigan. He loved his cat Momo and his dog Winston. He was a veteran of the Army during WWII, and a charter member of V.F.W. Post 2284 in Edwardsburg. Daniel was first married in 1950 to Rita J. Pawlak, and to this marriage a son was born who survives, Mark Kulwicki and his wife, Diana of Corpus Christi, TX. Rita passed in 1956. The second marriage was in 1957 to Mary Jane Kolo and to this marriage, two children were born who survive, a son, David Kulwicki of Edwardsburg and daughter, Sharon Reynolds and her husband, Darryl of Edwardsburg. This marriage was dissolved, but Mary Jane and Daniel remained best friends. Surviving in addition to his children are nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. There is one brother, Melvin (Delores) Kulwick of South Bend. Also a sister-in-law, Carol Kulwicki, who is the wife of a brother, Leonard who is deceased. Friends and family will be received Monday Nov. 8, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the social room of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 24832 US-12 East, Edwardsburg. A Prayer service will be Monday at 7:30 p.m. the Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. in the church. Officiating will be Father Joseph McCormick, Pastor. Gathering will be at the church for 1 hour before the Mass on Tuesday. Burial will be at Adamsville Cemetery with Military rites by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the V.F.W. Post of Edwardsburg. Arrangements by Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg.
