SOUTH BEND - Paul D. Podemski, 66, passed away Monday, August 22, 2016. Paul was born May 25, 1950 in South Bend to the late Edmund and Clara (Gorzkiewicz) Podemski. On March 11, 1972 in Fort Hood, Texas, Paul married his loving wife of 44 years Ann (Lietz) Podemski, she survives along with a daughter, Christine (Scott) Hough of Gilbert, AZ; a son, David Podemski of Farmington Hills, MI; granddaughters, KC and Angela; sisters, Barbara (Tom) Prendergast of St. Petersburg, FL, Kathleen (Ed) Rojek of South Bend; and several nieces and nephews. Paul honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War earning two Bronze Stars. He was a baker with Dainty Maid Bake Shop and Martin's for nearly 50 years. Paul was a parishioner at Holy Family Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He was a Past Commander of American Legion Post #357, a member of the West Side Memorial Day Parade Committee, and he volunteered for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Paul took pride working in his yard and was a NASCAR fan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Saturday, August 27, 2016 in Holy Family Catholic Church with a one hour visitation prior to the Mass in the Msgr. Galic Room. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd is assisting the family.
