John Pask Jr., age 74, of South Bend passed away Friday, May 4, 2012. John was born October 29, 1937 in Syracuse, New York, to the late John Sr. and Luella (Case) Paskewitz. John moved to the area as a small child, and graduated from John Adams High School in South Bend. After honorably serving his country as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army, he married the former Ms. Kathy Kovach at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka on October 29, 1960. They celebrated 51 years of marriage. Kathy survives, along with their children, Randy (Carol) Pask of Mishawaka, Jeannie Valencourt of South Bend, Joe (Pam) Pask of LaPorte, IN, and Jim (Sasha) Pask of Argos, IN. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; Alex Valencourt, Jason Bennitt, Nicole (James) Sutter, Joseph Pask Jr., Ben Pask, Natalie Pask, Elizabeth Pask, Lillian Pask, Max Pask, and Sebastian Pask, as well as one great granddaughter, Fae Sutter. Surviving as well are his sisters, Pat (Bill) Inks of Bristol, and JoAnne (John) Rutzen of Lapeer, Michigan. John was preceded in death by his sisters Martha Borton, and Jean Buswell. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Monday, May 7, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 4:30 pm. The mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel Scheidt presiding. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. John was employed as a carpenter for many years with Taylor Construction, and then with the Fisher Development Group, where he oversaw the building of "Gap" stores across the United States. He was also a longtime member of the Carpenter's Union. John's strong work ethic and dry sense of humor will be remembered by those who knew him. He also was member of Queen of Peace Church for many years, and loved his pets, especially his Beagles. In his spare time, he helped with his wife Kathy's business, collected Lladro statues, and antiques. John was also an avid supporter of the Humane Society, due to his love for animals.
